Leek, Tadorna

from CA$4.50

Tall, stately winter variety that has nice blue-green leaves. It can grow to an enormous size in fertile, moist soil, but from an early spring start expect 2’ tall plants about 1-2” across. Mulch heavily or hill soil up around the shaft to get the blanched look. Start leeks early spring indoors and transplant out when about 4-6” tall, and space them 6” apart in a prepared bed. They are heavy feeders so enrich the soil with lots of compost and keep well watered.
